I’ve written this blog since the summer of 2013, and in that time I’ve written well over a thousand blog posts with DIY, craft, recipe and decor ideas.

But who has the time to surf an entire site to find ideas for simple DIY projects?

I DO!

Okay, I didn’t really, but I do have a ton of simple DIY projects specifically for the Holidays, so I thought I would pull 20 or so out of the depths of the internet so you can have a quick compilation.

(Click image or highlighted text to be taken to the tutorial)

I give you 20 Simple Christmas DIYs:

One of my most popular Christmas projects are these patchwork stars made from scrap wood and then stapled together with an industrial stapler.

The DIY project that I WISH was my most popular is this gift wrapping station – one of the first projects I created building plans for.  I leave mine out all year for birthdays etc.

These scrap wood snowmen and Christmas trees are a great way to use up extra wood and make cute decor and hostess gifts.

Along the same lines, and another simple Christmas DIY – use up some scrap wood to create signs – a bit of sanding and some dollar store paint and you have a canvas for anything you like.

A couple of years ago I was desperate for a Christmas Village, but just couldn’t bring myself to pay for (or store) one.  Lia Griffith has cut files for this entire village that you can make using thick scrapbook paper – and they glow beautifully at night! (battery-operated candles of course)

Speaking of glowing, this DIY Christmas marquee sign is pretty night and day.  It takes a bit more time to make than some of the other projects; not because it’s difficult, but because you have to thread lights into every single hole.  (Totally worth the time though)

I made a Christmas card display a week or so ago for a “Half Hour Holiday Challenge”:

But below you’ll find a Christmas card tree that I made a few years ago that was probably whipped out in about a half hour as well:

I haven’t shown a ton of DIY ornaments on the blog, but the couple that I have done should certainly be entered into this 20 Simple Christmas DIYs post.

My branch slice ornaments:

and the origami star ornaments (made from wrapping paper)

I love my wooden sled (mis-labeled on Pinterest as a “sleigh”).  When I found building plans for this cutie, I went to town and made 3 or 4 so I could gift the extras.  I get compliments on mine all the time!

If dedicating a couple of hours in the garage to create DIY Christmas decor isn’t your thing, how about a project you can do in front of the tv?

Magazine trees for instance?

If your house is like mine, then the television takes priority over any mantle decorations during the Holidays.  To keep our stockings on display, but without blocking any receivers, I made this stocking hanger out of an old fence post and some scrap wood.

These candle houses were made from scrap wood (where do I get all of this scrap from?!) and paint sticks for the window dividers.  The smaller version was one of my first efforts with a scroll saw, but I found gluing paint sticks to be much easier.

These DIY Christmas signs see a LOT Of traffic on Pinterest.  I’m not sure if it’s the signs themselves, or the sentiment behind the words – but either way, you can whip one of these out in no time and it would make a great gift for friends or family.

On the topic of signs, I’ve made a few here on 100Things2Do and the “Let it Snow” sign below was one of the easiest; no frame, purchased wood letters and leftover paint – easy-peasy.

I haven’t shown any fabric projects on my 20 Simple Christmas DIYs yet?  I guess I have more fun with wood and paint, but that’s not to say that making your own Christmas chair covers is difficult.  If you can do a straight stitch (by hand or machine) you can make these.

Love the look of mercury glass but not the price tag?  (Me too.)

With a few dollar store vases and some looking-glass spray paint you can create the look and feel of mercury glass for a fraction of the price:

I love this moose – not much more to say about it, except that this is a simple DIY that can be set on display all winter long.  “Marty Moose, Marty Moose, Marty Moose, heeyuck that’s me!”

This Christmas tree shelf was made famous by Jaime Costiglio, but since I made my own (and it turned out adorably) I think it should definitely be on any 20 Simple Christmas DIYs lists.

Last week I showed a magnetic advent calendar that was a knock-off from Pottery Barn – (oh and the wooden trees beside the advent were the result of a happy accident!)

I’ve posted an even EASIER advent that you can make (with just wrapping paper)!  These little bundles get hung on your tree and the kids can unwrap treats each day.  Nothing to store after the Holidays!

There are so many more than 20 Simple Christmas DIYs on this blog but I’ll close this post with the wooden horses I made with my Step-Dad recently – one of my favourite Christmas DIYs of all time.

Please, share this post with friends and/or Pin it for later – anyone can make any of these projects and you can’t beat the feeling of creating something with your own hands.
