Have you heard of Modsy?
I learned about Modsy through another blogger who had used the service and was offering her readers a discount to try out their affordable design service….
and I was HOOKED!
In fact, I’m in the midst of having my 6th room professionally designed – and while this post contains affiliate links and a discount code – I want you to know that I paid for my room designs prior to approaching the company about partnering.
Let me give you the scoop: Modsy is an affordable interior design service that is so easy to use, you’ll become addicted like I am.
I use the $69 (US) design package – which for you will be $55.20 if you use code 100THINGS20 – and it includes two designs of your room and unlimited revisions.
All you have to do is send 8 photographs of the room (from your phone or tablet is fine) – one shot from each corner of the room and one photo from the centre of each wall – and the length, width and height of the room. That’s right it’s completely remote – trying to find interior Design services in your area can be such a pain! But this is all from your home, couldn’t be easier!
Modsy gives you a 5 minute questionnaire to help find your style and offers you the option to “shop their moodboards” for items you like or would like to see incorporated into the room.
About a week later you’ll receive your renderings so you can visualize perfectly colours, textures, layouts and furnishings.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so let me show you my master bedroom as I submitted to the Modsy team. The best thing about interior design is that once you have a vision, being able to bring it to life is so fulfilling. Plus, checking out these cool design trends really did help when it came to having some sort of inspiration.
It’s okay I guess, but the layout needs to be changed up, and I have no idea how to size furnishings or accents for a room.
With a king-sized bed taking up a substantial amount of space, I couldn’t figure out how to make it more warm, welcoming and proportionate.
This is Design 1 from Modsy:
The questionnaire determined that I prefer a “Rustic Warmth” feel to interior decorating and the designer incorporated those elements – in proper size, layout and textures – to this rendering.
You read correctly – this is a RENDERING of my space!
Complete with an aerial view so you can get a feel for the overall room layout.
This is SO MUCH BETTER – and having the renderings allows me to visualize how an area rug will look and where to place it, what furnishings will coordinate etc. When it come to the decorating itself, make sure you use xhang for your wall art as it makes life so much easier.
As part of your Modsy (affordable interior design) package, you’ll get a second design as well – on the off-chance they don’t get it “just right” the first time. This is Design 2:
Similar layout, but with new furnishings (check out that upholstered headboard and chandelier!)
When I submitted my moodboard to Modsy, I was considering painting my master bedroom, but didn’t know what colour to choose. As part of my “unlimited revisions”, I asked my designer Heidi to give me a couple of options:
This is what the room might look like painted in a paler shade of grey. For a small fee, she was also able to show me a rendering with a grasscloth accent wall.
and another option with a wallpaper accent (also available to purchase through Modsy):
I’m not sure if I want to buy white bedding…
how about a design showcasing another option?
Everything in these renderings is available to purchase with just a click; Modsy partners with major retailers like Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Wayfair, Ikea and many more. Underneath the rendering is a shopping link for you to click to buy – Modsy takes care of placing the orders with each retailer so that your interior design process is totally streamlined. No one wants to spend hours searching for the exact dresser or vase only to find that they are no longer available right? Modsy will also give you the retailer’s lowest price, so there’s no markup to use the service.
I’d say having someone professionally design and decorate your room, offer paint and wallpaper options, give you access to revise your designs yourself or have a designer make edits, provide you with links and a free shopping service as well as these incredible renderings is worth WAAAAAAAY more than $69. (20% off if you use code 100THINGS20)
That’s why I’m on room 6 with Modsy – it is beyond affordable interior design – it will save you money, energy and frustration by eliminating shopping for multiple paint samples, improperly sized furniture and rugs, bedding, curtains and running around trying to buy it all (and then return it).
It is incredible!
I’ve already started on my master bedroom transformation – totally based on one of these Modsy designs, but it will take a bit to get everything together (I’ll show you as it does).
For now I wanted to SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS and let everyone know about this amazing, incredible, outstanding and affordable interior design service.
Thank you to Modsy (Heidi and Allie especially) for all of your hard work and for giving my friends/readers the extra discount.
What do you think? New Year, new room? (and 20% off with 100THINGS20)
Have a great one!
