Patio Living

Summer living isn’t just about beaches and barbecues – some of my favourite times are spent right here at home (staycation anyone?) on/in my favourite room of the house – the patio!

I HAD THE BEST DAY EVER last weekend!!

My kids were home with me, the weather was gorgeous, we went out for ice cream, had nachos outside and just “hermited” in my favourite room of the house…

My patio.

This outdoor room has always been my favourite place to spend time.  Caesar’s […]

DIY Planter from House Becoming Home

Build your own DIY planter with chippendale accents using the free plans from Angie at House Becoming Home.

Each month a group of brilliant DIY bloggers get together and take on a challenge – for the month of May, the challenge was a #DIYOUTDOORCHALLENGE.  I wasn’t able to participate this month because of several other projects on the go, but the other women did not disappoint and the projects are awesome.

One in particular had me drooling; a gorgeous chippendale planter from […]

Laying sod over chips and dust

Can you lay sod over chips and dust? I’m not going to say that I did this correctly, but as dumb luck (and a lot of rain) would have it – my lawn took without having to remove the gravel!

If you have kids then you know (perhaps better than others) the transitional nature of things. Toys come and go, activities change as they mature, and even larger investments like playgrounds and swimming pools fall by the wayside.

Round coffee table – you won’t believe the before!

You’ve heard me say it again and again – if you can find a piece that is made of solid wood, it is so worth saving!  Take this Game-of-Thrones-crazy round coffee table that I picked up for $40 and refinished to a beautiful statement piece for my family room.

I finally have a completed project to share with you – and it feels like it’s been FOR-E-VER!

This round coffee table was actually done a couple of weeks ago, but it looked […]

Ultimate Workbench – free building plans

I’ve built the ultimate workbench with room for both your table saw and mitre saw (as well as outfeed space) and plenty of storage and room to grow. Free building plans here.

My Ultimate workbench has been months in the making and will likely continue to evolve for months to come as my needs change.  That’s what’s great about these workbench building plans – I’ve created a perfect saw station complete with a recessed table saw section and outfield table, as […]
