Plants and Pets

Before bringing plants into your home, check to make sure they aren’t toxic to pets or children.  This “Pet-friendly plants” list is a great starting point.

I’d seen this listing of common house plants that are “Pet-friendly plants” and “Toxic plants for pets” at my Veterinarian’s office the past few times I’ve been.  Each time I thought “this would make a GREAT blog post!”  I’ve taken photos with my iPad and made a mental note to post something…

Then I build something […]

100 Things 2 Do This Summer

If you’ve followed the blog over the past few years, you will have seen this “100 Things 2 Do This Summer” list – but for those of you that are new, it’s worth repeating…

Three years ago I was faced with the challenge of staying home with my kids all summer long. My employer had retired and there was no benefit to seeking other employment at the beginning of summer when I’d just have to pay out daycare expenses.

Texting Acronyms Parents NEED to Know

Madison and I attended a course on the weekend that was intended to help tweens feel more comfortable home alone.

Granted, I’m a stay-at-home Mom, so the need doesn’t arise very often, but on those rare occasions where I want to run in and out of the grocery store without the pre-battle to get the girls to come with me, I thought it would be of value.

The afternoon session of the course had kids in one room going over fire […]

100 Random Acts of Kindness

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope the past couple of days have been spent in the warm embrace of family and friends – with full tummies and lots of gratitude.

It has been for me anyways.  Christmas Eve was spent with my brother and his wife and my Dad (and my brood of course), Christmas day was spent with my Dad, a napping husband and sugar-stoned kids and Boxing Day holds another Christmas for us with my Mom and Step-Dad.  We are blessed, […]

100 Things 2 Do Before Christmas Checklist

It’s TIME!

Hallowe’en is over (WAHOO!) and now I can go full-on with Christmas!

I love adore Christmas.  I even went so far as to give one of the girls the middle name “Noelle” (french for Christmas).

It’s not the religious aspects or the gifts – it’s the feeling of warmth and togetherness that it brings.  Decorations come out to make the home cozy and welcoming, baking goes into overdrive to make sure tummies are full and the kids dance around the house with […]
