You may have noticed that the majority of recipes I post on this blog are not calorie conscious.
BUT they are delicious – and life’s too short to miss out on delicious right?
These cheese and bacon buns are no exception:
My Dad used to make these cheese and bacon buns all the time and store them in the freezer.
No magic ingredients here.
No special techniques or detailed instructions needed.
A photo essay of cheese and bacon scrumptiousness:
That’s it! Pre-cooked bacon, hot dog buns and a jar of Cheez Whiz. If you’ve got teens or tweens, this is the simple snack to have on-hand over March break. They can pull a couple out of the freezer and pop them into the toaster oven.
You can add a bit of dry mustard to the Cheez Whiz before spreading if you want to zing it up a notch.
Make a large batch and store in the freezer.
My Dad puts the cheese and bacon buns in the oven at 375° for 7 to 8 minutes – just until they are thawed – then turns on the broiler to toast them and melt the cheese.
Keep watch until cheese starts to darken around the edges, it should only take a couple of minutes.
Ooey, gooey, cheesey bacon goodness!
Yes, I know I have the palette of a five-year old.
Have a great one!
