I’ve searched Pinterest and, believe it or not, I can’t find a single image showing a neat way to identify your locker when you’re at the gym.
There’s decorating your locker for high school and refurbishing old lockers for home decor pieces – but nothing to help you in this situation:
This is approximately what my gym’s locker room looks like – except there’s 4 banks of these – that’s a LOT of lockers in a very tight space. If you have anything at all on your mind like just having dropped off the kids, what groceries you need, are you late for class, does my ass look fat in this, what time do I have to leave to make work, did I brush my teeth…
then adding your locker number to the Tetris that is your brain is a lot.
If you go to the gym more than once per week, it’s even more difficult to remember because chances are you get a different locker every time you go.
Anyone with me on this?

For those of you, like me, life is a barrage of numbers and dates and times and passwords – finding my locker should not be this difficult.
So I invented something!
And by invented I mean I cut some paper and used a magnet in a slightly different way than I’ve seen before. (Hey, that counts! The sandwich was only invented because bread was already available)
I give you locker magnets!
These are business card magnets that you can find at Staples and possibly even the dollar store. One side already has adhesive on it so people just attach their business card.
You could attach your business card to your locker magnet – if you don’t mind that much information on display.
I just wanted something bright and portable that I can stick on my locker each time I head to a Centergy class (GO TERRI! – you hard-core planking beeotch!)
I simply cut a piece of coloured cardstock, attached my initial to it, and then dressed it up with a bit of washi tape – because this is a craft blog after all – and done!
Okay, I did spray it with two light coats of Rust-Oleum’s Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover Paint in clear, semi-gloss. You don’t want to destroy your locker magnets with sweaty hands the first time you use it/them right?
It gives your locker magnets a bit of shine and a lot of protection (only spray the front though).
Because cameras are not allowed in public change rooms – and rightly so – I had to showcase these in action on the side of my fridge.

How about another “where’s Waldo”?
Granted, this is only going to work as long as everyone doesn’t come in with exactly the same locker magnets – but since these are a DIY version, chances are slim.
You could buy fancy magnets – but then you run the risk of little hands playing with them and moving them here and there while Mommy dries their hair.
This is cheap, easy and effective – and necessity is the mother of invention right?
No, I have not applied for a patent at this point, but this post is dated – so anyone attempting to sell my brilliance remember to include my royalty in your pricing.
