Just a quick pop-in today with a super-easy and very cute DIY – the “Who needs Santa…” gift pile, made from 2×2 pieces of scrap wood.

I cut four pieces of 2×2 wood to lengths of 8″, 6″, 4″ and 2″, gave them a light sanding and then painted them in Christmas colours using inexpensive craft paint from the dollar store.

The red wasn’t quite bold enough, so I did go over it with a brighter shade.

I used a bit of wood glue to hold my “Who needs Santa…” gift pile in place, and then put a heavy object on top (or clamp if you wish) until the glue dried.

The lettering was cut using my Silhouette Cameo on adhesive vinyl.  Once everything was stuck in place, I went over the entire thing with a clear gloss spray paint and then wrapped it with a coordinating ribbon.

So easy!

Other than waiting for the paint to dry, you could have one of these “Who needs Santa” gift piles whipped out in less than 10 minutes…

and I’m pretty sure Baba (Grandma) and Grandpa will be pleased.

Check out that bokeh (out of focus dots of light) background!  One lesson with my brilliant Uncle and I’m already getting bokeh – on purpose!

Have a great one!
