I don’t feel like I did this project justice.  The hexagonal art piece that this stemmed from is much more inspiring, and Amazing Amy’s circle piece has great colour and balance…

but since I went to the effort to make this piece of paper art, and since it’s not horrible, I’m going to share it anyways.

I had a narrow section of wall in my basement that needed something… so Amazing Amy and I got together the other week and tried to create our own versions of this piece of paper art:

I know, no comparison – hers is stunning.

Mine is easier though?

I cut 1″ squares from a few colours of cardstock – two plain, two glittered and one with a sheen to it.

Then I randomly glued each square down, leaving a small space in between each.

I should have stopped here, with the warm lighting in my basement, it looks quite pretty.

Instead (learned the hard way) I decided to coat it with a gloss varnish spray paint.  The intent was to give it all a bit of shine – which it did, but it did take away some of the sheen on the gold pieces as well.

Bummer.

Amy took the time to punch out circles for hers, and left some blank space for a more dramatic effect:

Got-Jus dahling!

These were easy, fun and are quite striking from a distance (much like myself).  A great craft for kids and/ or one that can easily be altered to suit any decor.

You may see this again sometime – I’m giving myself a ‘mulligan’ just in case.

Have a great one!
