Some scrap wood, pre-cut letters and a bit of paint are all you need to create your own DIY Fall sign (with a Winter sign on the back) to take your decor through 2 seasons!

Today’s post is actually part two of a post I did last winter…

Do you remember seeing my Hot Cocoa sign?

Today is a hot cocoa kind of day, hot cocoa stand, hot chocolate station, hot chocolate stand

I wrote in that article that I had plans for the back of that sign – something to keep it in season from Fall right through to Valentine’s…

Well, this is the other side of that same wood sign:

The backer for the wood sign is centred in the frame so that both sides have a small lip.  I just rotated the frame for a more upright layout and painted this side white.

I purchased the letters for this Autumn side at the same time as I did the Winter ones – both sets came from Details 2 Enjoy.

I left the letters unfinished because I like the look of the burnt/darkened edges and lighter faces, and it goes well with the cedar frame I built (see the Hot Cocoa post for details and how-to).

I picked up the sunflower from Pier One, so all I had to do was centre everything and then glue each piece down with Gorilla glue (clear).

I know, I know – sunflowers are more of an August spectacle – but to me they are the first indicator that Fall is around the corner (and it allows me to put up my DIY Fall sign early enough to enjoy it before Hallowe’en, Thanksgiving and Christmas take over my decor.)

I’m showcasing the sign on my front porch here, mainly for better lighting (and to hide my messy house) – but really, you could put it anywhere.  It’s also a super-simple DIY that you could whip out quickly and give as a gift to friends and family.

Swap out the sunflower and attach wooly socks, or paint on an argyle print; you could even add pumpkins or coloured leaves if that’s your thing.

If Details 2 Enjoy is a bit pricey, or won’t ship to your area – there is always the cardboard cut-out letters that you can often find at the dollar store.  The font of your Fall sign won’t be the same, but it’s the message over the medium right?

Two seasons with this cutie!!

In my family room for Autumn decor, then in my kitchen for my Winter hot cocoa station.

I love a multi-purpose/use project!
