This is meaty PERFECTION!
You will need:
- 2lbs top sirloin steak, cut into large cubes
- 1 red, orange, yellow and green pepper (cut into chunks)
- 1 large red onion (cut into cubes)
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp seasoning salt
- 1 tsp ground, black pepper
- 2 tbsp dijon mustard
- 2 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- wood skewers – which need to be soaked in water for 30-45 minutes
In a large bowl combine the garlic, seasoning salt, pepper, dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and olive oil. Whisk thoroughly.
Place the sirloin cubes in the marinade, toss to coat, and let sit for an hour.
Skewer the onion, pepper and steak and repeat until each skewer is full.
Baste the finished skewers with the remaining marinade and cover. Let sit until you are ready to cook – for us it was a few hours later.
Preheat your grill to high. Place the skewers on the hot grill and immediately turn down the heat to medium/medium-high.
Cook, turning occasionally, until desired tenderness is reached.
This recipe made 16 skewers at ~7″ long – more than enough for 6 people with plenty leftover.
Hubby liked them so much he even had some for breakfast this morning!
I figured it out and these came to approximately $3.20 per skewer. That includes the onion, garlic, peppers, dijon mustard and a top sirloin steak. (the other ingredients I had on hand) This is still a good deal considering the grocery store by our house makes their own kebabs for sale for $4 each and the steak bites are a lot smaller than mine were. Each adult and child had two and the men went back for a third, but were pretty full after that.
Just in case you missed the Caesar Pasta Salad – the recipe is here.
Before summer is over, you really need to try these – scrump-deli-ump-cious!
Have a great one!
