This post came about because I was surfing Instagram and came across a post from Tammi at Tfees™ Straws.

The image was of a steaming cup of coffee (or tea) with this clear plastic straw in it – something like this:

See that tiny little clear stick in the top of my mug? Pretty discreet right?

I clicked over to the Tfees™ Straws site and was so excited about her product that I immediately messaged her for more information.

Turns out these little straws are made of 100% heat safe Tritan™ plastic which is proven BPA, Bps, estrogenic, androgenic free and heat safe up to 212 degrees fahrenheit… which means it is PERFECT for steaming drinks – like coffee or tea – which stain your teeth.

I’m sure there are a few of you out there that care about white and healthy teeth. Perhaps you even fork out a buck or two (or $50+) for store-bought whitening treatments. Maybe you’ve even tried whitening at the Dentist’s office such as a Dentist in Land O’ Lakes that is a little more expensive than your store-bought strips.

BUT afterwards, you go home and continue drinking your coffee and tea and wine. You still drink juice despite the dentist’s warnings of enamel erosion from the acidity. You negate the whitening you’ve just done by adding stains and acid back onto your teeth.

A month later, your teeth are yellowing again and it’s time to fork out the big bucks once more. When you took that trip to visit a Dentist in Healdsburg (if you live in and around this area) or your local dental clinic, you probably had the intention to keep your teeth looking as white as possible. With this being said, if you still drank coffee and fizzy drinks and notice your teeth have a stain on them, it is never too late to get this sorted by visiting a dentist. They are there to help give you the smile you have always wanted. Plus, that is their job!

So, should we quit drinking coffee, tea and wine?

Is there anything left?

What about a solution that is CONSIDERABLY less expensive?

These little straws – which by the way are really comfortable to use – come in a three-pack of different sizes so that you can continue to enjoy your favourite beverage without the liquid washing across your teeth. Sip from your straw and the drink is directed past your pearly whites to your palette all-but-eliminating any contact between your teeth and staining agents/acids etc.

You can tuck the Tfees™ straws in wine glasses and sip discreetly while aerating your wine, or through the drink hole in your favourite Starbucks. The straw stays cool to the lips and is sip-sized so you don’t have to worry about that first burning mouthful (you can still get burned if you aren’t careful, but it won’t be because of a hot straw or a large gulp).

I have very sensitive teeth – so sensitive in fact, that I can’t use whitening kits on them at all or even air touching them will skyrocket me out of my seat. Like everyone, I was worried about my yellowing smile, but wasn’t ready to give up on my favourite beverages – so Tfees™ straws was a serendipitous find.

Not only does it protect from staining and erosion, but it also protects me from cold drinks – without increasing waste. I can use these straws again and again and again, and even run them through the dishwasher safely. It’s true – I’ve tried!

Miss Chloe has ‘soft enamel’ – a common problem with kids nowadays – which means juices (all of which are highly acidic) erode her enamel even more quickly than ‘normal’ and she is prone to sensitivity, yellowing and cavities. Using a Tfees straw allows her to drink her favourite beverages – which of course are juices – and cuts back on the damage considerably.

  1. I’ve used straws for years at home and it really helps (flex straws are easiest for me), but these are great for when you’re out and about! Thanks for the great post. MMR

    1. These are really worth trying. We have bought straws since the girls were babies – so that they could drink from unspillable Tupperware cups. Believe it or not, it really adds up – cost-wise and in waste. These are fantastic because they are temperature-proof, discreet and very comfortable – plus they can be used over and over for years. Try them, I’m positive you’ll like them! Xo

  2. I like that your straws aren’t going into the land fills after each use.My daughter lives in Japan, and I’m always sending her whitening strips because of tea stains. Their tea game there is on point! I’m going to look into sending her these. However, sucking on a straw does cause repetitive muscle motion lip wrinkles, or ‘smokers lip’.

    1. I didn’t know about the wrinkles part – but I will tell you that the muscle motion is minimal. These straws only allow you to sip, so it’s a gentle sucking motion and (I just tested this out with my tea) your lips don’t even need to purse. The suction is between your palette and your tongue, so you can use these and keep your upper lip still. Regardless – I REALLY love mine and I’m positive your daughter will love them too!
