Book Nook – 17 of the coziest reading spots on the internet

There’s just something about Fall that brings out all of my animal instincts.  The urge to stockpile food for winter and start “nesting” before hibernating this winter.  Part of this pull is the idea of a cozy chair, warm lighting and a good book as the evenings become shorter and shorter.

Perhaps it’s just that I’ve been binge-reading Outlander since the Season 2 finale.

If you’re not a reader and the idea of a “book nook” doesn’t appeal to you, scroll through these snuggle-rific photos and see if you don’t change your mind.

There’s the “when I build my next house/dream house” versions; with an entire room dedicated to quiet and reading;

There’s the “I have this awkward space I need to furnish” book nook;

There’s the “I have no space for a book nook” concept – where you squeeze a ‘sanity seat’ anywhere you can – no matter how small;

Then there’s my favourite, the cushy window seat book nook;

If you can’t find a spot for your solitude anywhere else in the house, how about creating a small book nook in your bedroom?

Don’t leave the kids out when considering ideas for reading areas – book nooks can be fun and whimsical to encourage a love of reading:

And what teen/tween wouldn’t love a closet-sized reading area – for books now and texting later.

The checklist to create your own book nook seems to be
  1. natural or artificial lighting
  2. an area away from the day-to-day mayhem
  3. a storage area for books and
  4. a cushy, overstuffed place to sit

all of which can be accomplished without an architect or a large outlay of cash by placing ‘just the right’ reading chair and throw blanket in the corner of any room:

Yup, nesting/pre-hibernating urges in full gear now!
Have a great one!

    Hi I’m just wondering where the chair and picture 14 is from. Thanks so much!

      I’m sorry, I don’t know – these were images taken from the internet (with credit and sources) of my wishlist of book nooks.
