If you are familiar with Toronto at all, you will know the major expressway called the Don Valley Parkway. If you live in my neighbourhood, we have an equally chaotic path called the Dog Valley Barkway. Funny sign
I was laughing with a friend the other day; we were talking about me being single now and I commented that I actually had a boyfriend named Miguel – he’s very low maintenance except for the fact that he takes 2 AA batteries.
My friend told me it was time to upgrade to the Esteban boyfriend – a 120V improvement on Miguel.
I replied back “Have you ever seen the movie Christmas Vacation? Where the cat gets a hold of the lights…?”
I laughed so hard I had to share. Ah single life – where nothing is taboo. lol
Speaking (writing?) on laughing, I do a lot of things to make people laugh. Inappropriate jokes (as above), and IG videos where I try to be lighthearted to make people smile. (I won’t lie, I get a kick out of winding my parents up, and I’m pretty sure this would have mortified them. lol)
With that in mind, you’ll understand why I wanted to make a sign for the walkway behind my house. Dozens of people walk their dogs there every single day and it’s become the “water cooler” of the neighbourhood – or if you’re a dog owner it is.
I decided to ‘decorate’ the path with a new sign. Something to (hopefully) make people smile as they are out and about.
The humour in this might be lost if you aren’t familiar with Toronto… there they have a major expressway called the Don Valley Parkway – it’s busy, chaotic and well-known all over Ontario.
Very similar to the infamy of the walking path behind my house. I had three visitors in the 10 minutes it took me to hang my sign.
It would have been funnier if I could have hung it over the path, but close by was the best I could do.
It worked! the first three visitors thought it was funny – so mission accomplished!
Don’t worry, no trees were harmed while hanging my sign – I used copper strapping to hold it in place.
A little bit of scrap wood, a tester pot of paint and smiles from dozens of dog walkers – I don’t know if you could have a more successful project?
If you want to check out how I made the kids smile – click over and see the Easter Bunny door I installed in the easement a few years ago. Kids still open it up to see if there are any Easter eggs inside. lol
Just dropping in with a quick and simple project today, but I have some furniture makeovers in the works, so more DIY is on its way!
Have a great one (and make someone smile today).
Too funny!
