Get your house ready for Autumn with these Fall finds for your home that will get you clean, cozy, decorated and lit.

I don’t usually participate in hyping Amazon Prime days.  I don’t know that you (readers/friends) necessarily come to me for shopping suggestions or interior design?

But, since Prime Day is coming October 8-9, and I’ve managed to single-handedly keep Jeff Bezos in luxury yachts, I thought I’d share some Amazon finds that I have purchased over the past couple of months for our new home.  I have no idea if any of these will go on sale, but I do promise you that I’m not posting anything that I haven’t bought, and been very impressed with, myself.

I had an interior designer come and help me with scale, texture, cohesiveness and overall look for our new home and she referred me to this 7′ fall olive tree as something she uses in a lot of her decor projects.  I did go to a greenhouse to see what I could find by way of a real olive tree (faux trees get me thinking of The Lorax) but at $275 CDN for one the same height, the budget dictated that I go-faux.

The coco coir mats are simple, elegant and finally in a large enough size that they actually cover the full width of my front door.  I loved the first so much that I purchased a second to set at my back door – unfortunately Stella (our goat-dog) also loved it and has managed to tear it apart.

I love having branches popping out of vases here and there; I think it gives height, interest and colour.  I have these branches in green, but couldn’t resist bringing in a Fall shade to cozy things up.

The iron frog?  What can I say – looking at it just makes me smile.

I have swapped out so many light fixtures in this house it is crazy.  Check that, I’m crazy.  I NEED light in my life, so bringing in larger semi-flush mount lights to my kitchen and kitchenette was mandatory.  I replaced one, and was so impressed with the look, I immediately ordered another.

My old workshop had fluorescent lighting, which was spectacular.  To achieve the same results, but with a LOT less work, I bought this 4-pack of LED lights that can be directed to different areas.  All you have to do is screw it in to an existing light bulb hole.

I wrote about these awesome exterior solar lights in the post showing my deck stair lighting.  It’s only been a couple of months, but so far they are doing the job and looking great!

I’m sorry to my US readers, but two of the items in the above image are from a Canadian company called Urban Barn – the chunky knit throw and the ceramic pillar candle holders.  I’m sure if you did a reverse Google image search there would be options available through other companies – otherwise make a Canadian friend and have us ship them down.

The 100% cotton cable knit sweater was a surprise to me.  I actually picked mine up at a return auction (where someone returns it because it’s the wrong size etc).  At $3, I had to give it a try and I’m telling you; Amazon essential items are REALLY well-made!  I was fully expecting a polyester TEMU piece of garbage (in which case it would have still been a cheap coat for my dog), but it is 100% cotton and LLBean quality.  So far the navy is my favourite, but I may go back and get the green and cream – at ~$33 it is a STEAL!

I’m a bedding snob.  Not so much that I only shop Boll & Branch or other high-end bedding (if only I could afford that!), but I do lean towards Pottery Barn sheets (when they are on sale) or whatever Costco is selling.  I have donated more than a couple of sets because the material was thin and shiny.  Miss Madison headed off to University this Fall and wanted a waffle-weave duvet cover… not easy to find in a super-twin size.  We gave this bedding set a chance and both loved it so much, I bought a second set for Miss Chloe.  With 19 colours to choose from, I may bring a third set in for myself!

Okay, these “Fall finds for your home” aren’t as cozy or decorative as the other items I’m sharing, but they are FANTASTIC finds that I’m so glad I purchased!

The Weiman Floor polish actually hides scratches, restores colour, adds a subtle shine AND protects your floors from scratches.  With three dogs running rampage on my engineered hardwood floors I had to give something a try to give it a bit of protection, and this stuff is magic!  You only need apply it once a month or so, but I’ve already gone back to stock up because I KNOW it’s going to sell out once people know about it.

This isn’t the season for installing retractable hoses, instead it is the OFF-season, which means that gardening equipment like this tend to go on sale.  I picked one up and let me tell you what a treat it is to not have to re-coil and re-hang my garden hoses.  So far it’s been fantastic, but I’ll touch back again in Spring to let you know if it survived the winter.

Bidets need a saying, like “Bidet is the way” or “once you go back, it’ll clean out your crack” or something.  (Ah, that made me laugh!)

If the thought of a cold shot of water up your wahoo or waheenie doesn’t sound appealing, I understand.  But how does the thought of a perfectly pressure-washed caboose sound?  Try it once and trust me… everyone in Europe isn’t wrong.  This version of the bidet offers two different directional sprays so you don’t have to wiggle all over the place for a complete clean.  Chris says he prefers this one because it doesn’t “cold shock my junk” lol

Finally, I came across these citric acid dishwasher cleaner tabs in a search to find something to get our new dishwasher to clean better.  It’s only a few years old, but it wasn’t getting the dishes as clean as I like, so before calling in a plumber or ordering a new one, I thought I’d give these tabs a try.  Well, they haven’t completely resolved my problem, but I will say that they did make things somewhat better.  At less than $20 for a full year’s supply, I’d say it’s money well-spent.

That’s it folks – sure, I’ve made a lot of other purchases as part of setting up our new home, but the other items were just “meh” and not worth sharing.  Everything above I LOVE and highly recommend.

And hopefully they’ll go on sale come Prime Day! (October 8-9, 2024)

Have a great one!
