It’s week 6 of the One Room Challenge, which means it’s REVEAL WEEK!

My parent’s basement didn’t need structural work, tiling, carpeting or electrical work – but I think you’ll agree that it certainly needed a makeover:
Purging, organizing, paint and fabric took this room from unusable to a spectacular home gym. A gym is a perfect addition to any house because it not only keeps you fit but also helps increase the value of your home, should you ever sell it. While it might seem like it could be expensive, by using sites like https://amazon.getyourcouponcodes.com/products/treadmills, you’ll be able to keep the costs down. Plus, any investment you make in it now will be worth it further down the line.

I built a small yoga mat storage rack to keep yoga mats, barbells and/or foam rollers organized and off the floor. It’s also just the right height to set next to the bike or treadmill for water and/or magazines. If you are thinking about having a home gym but aren’t sure about what equipment you should get then you might want to take a look at a website like FitnessVerve.com
Sweet William Sewing Company found the perfect material to tie the new and old colour-scheme together.
The home cinema half of the room, while not as chaotic as the gym side – is now light and bright and ready for movie night!

Just outside the door you can see the dollar store gallery wall and I love how my Mom staged the fireplace mantle.
At 17′ by 33′, this room is huge and multi-purpose so creating a cohesive look while serving two functions wasn’t an easy task (especially given that I had to work with the existing couches).
I’d like to send a special thank you out to Heidi at Modsy for coming up with a design that suited my parent’s tastes while working within some pretty strict parameters. (discount code for 100T2D readers: 100THINGS20)
There may be a few more tweaks to come – but for now the space is warm, welcoming, bright and usable… almost enough to make me want to work out. (almost).
