It’s week 4 of the challenge and I am thrilled to say that all of my “heavy lifting” for my parent’s basement makeover is done! By heavy lifting I mean the big jobs that give the greatest “bang for your buck” in their home gym / theatre room makeover.
This week I’m going to show you the colour – or rather the removal of colour from the home gym and theatre room.
My parent’s chose the Modsy design that featured Benjamin Moore’s White Down as the overall colour,
with Mount Saint Anne as the accent:
Everything from the oak crown moulding to the floor was changed. The baseboard and trim work went from a blue-purple to BM’s Cloud White, and the walls and anaglypta (which was a monster to paint) were done in White down.
Two coats and the space is fresh, bright, airy and gorgeous!
Don’t look in the hallway.
By carrying the paint colour up through the anaglypta, it gives the walls some continuity and height. The white trim is just so fresh and crisp – I’m thrilled with how it turned out!
How about a few before and afters to get a better perspective?
Not sure the gold-framed picture is the best solution for that space?
This one is my favourite:
The theatre section of their basement doesn’t have the same impact. Those oak cabinets take over the space. Maybe someday she’ll let me refinish them? If nothing else, at least the Christmas decorations are gone. lol
