I had some fun over the weekend and invited my “Muses” over to play.
By Muses I mean the imagination-station team – consisting of my daughter and a few of her friends.
I LOVE seeing what kids come up with when creating. My mind is so pigeon-holed by Pinterest perfection that I don’t often branch out and come up with something entirely original, but ask an 11 year old to paint cork coasters and watch what they come up with!
I picked up a few supplies from the dollar store:
and set up a “feel-free-to-spill zone” in my garage,
and let the animals loose.
This craft was inexpensive and easy to set up, and the kids and I laughed and goofed around while working. The girls were at it for two hours without even noticing the time, and I think they had fun.
We had Jaden’s beautiful geometric print cork coasters:
and then Georgia’s creations:
which included a galaxy coaster, a plaid one, a watermelon version and a “love it!” emoji coaster.
See what I mean about imagination?! Have you ever come across a galaxy coaster anywhere before?
Brilliant!
We had rainbows and beach balls, solid colours and fruit;
The girls came up with so many different options – it was a lot of fun (for me anyways).
As an added bonus, once the mess was shovelled up, I got to sit out and enjoy using some of our cork coasters!
If you’re looking for a fun craft to make with your kids – of any age – cork coasters is a great bet.
Have a great one!
