It’s week 3 of the Spring 2018 One Room Challenge and I have a confession to make…
I am not a natural designer.
I know what I like, but putting a room together beyond paint and DIY projects is a little out of my depth. Scale, texture, palette, style – not my forte by any stretch of the imagination.
For my Week 3 ORC post I’d like to share the ace up my sleeve for those of you that might be less-than-interior-designers (like me); Modsy.
I’ll start with the before photos of my parents’ basement – which includes a home gym and a theatre room in one space.
These were the exact photos I sent to Modsy when I was looking for inspiration and help on what to do to make the space functional. Yup, mess and all.
These are some of the designs they provided back to me:
The carpeting is staying in the home gym/theatre room, but we weren’t sure if there was a way to make the burgundy paint work. I love how it looks with the grey sectional!
What about a change in colour? Modsy can do that, and give you a complete rendering of the space with the changes:
You can see how the colour change really brightens things up. The furniture wasn’t quite what my parents had hoped for, so Modsy came up with a room design that incorporated a yellow-ish sofa and a green-ish lazy boy:
Nope, still not quite right. Did you know Modsy can actually replicate furniture you already have? All you have to do is send them a photo and a few measurements and they can create a rendering of the piece/s so you can get an even clearer idea of how everything will fit together.
Those are my parents’ sofas! Pretty incredible rendering eh?
I wasn’t convinced that they should stay in the space, but now that I’ve seen how they can be tied in with a few colour changes here and there, I don’t mind them at all.
I think my parents were even more thrilled.
You can swap out furnishings, accessories, paint colours – anything you like – within your design package. I bet you’re thinking this costs a fortune right? Complete computer renderings that are so real-looking you’d think it was the room – at least $500.
NO!
$69 US for all of these renderings (and unlimited changes). Unbelievable!
Modsy also gives you an overhead view so you can lay out your room to scale and spacing.
One more:
Paint went on the walls and trim this week, but you’ll have to wait until Week 4 to see which Modsy design we decided to go with.
To make the wait more bearable, I’ve partnered with Modsy on this project and they are offering 100Things2Do readers 20% off of your design package! Use my Modsy promo code: 100THINGS20 (100Things2Do receives a small affiliate fee if you use this Modsy promo code)
This reduces your design cost to $55.20 US and it includes 2 designs of your room with unlimited revisions!
