A glimpse into our family’s Christmas with this Holiday home tour 2021
Happy Sunday everyone!
Stopping in today with a sort of photo essay – because what can I say beyond “Christmas Home Tour 2021”?
Welcome to our home…
I’ll start in the dining room with the navy and gold flocked tree:
I know there are only 4 place settings there, but the pretty dessert plates I bought from Pier 1 only came in sets of 4, so I don’t have enough to go with each chair. Let’s be honest though, I save these plates for decoration more than serving on, so pretend you see more plates or fewer chairs 🙏🏻?
I’m still so crazy about that chandelier and you can read more on how I created that accent wall here.
On to the family room – which is where I spend most of my time…
I went with navy, burgundy and a champaign colour on the tree and decorations to tie in with the navy built-ins that I painted last month.
I filled out the eucalyptus garland with some faux cedar and pine branches which I detailed in this post.
Father Christmas watches over the stockings so that no one peeks.
I use the fireplace so often that I have to keep all of our Christmas stockings off to the side or risk melting the fabric.
The tree is a special present to myself – it’s a 9′ Hayden Pine from Lowe’s and I just bought it this year. It is absolutely stupendous and with 1,500 lights could stand on it’s own without a single ornament and still be spectacular.
I’m not exaggerating when I say I have fallen asleep admiring those lights more than a few times already this season.
I had to do a bit of shuffling of furniture to fit the tree in, but I kept our two lounge chairs in the room so that we could snuggle in and watch Christmas movies together.
The other side of the room has our over-sized sectional with burgundy, navy and cable knit throw pillows and blankets.
A few ornaments in the dough bowl I made the other week and my waxed amaryllis bulb (if they are in wax you never have to plant or water them, they grow straight out of the wax casing!) fill out the coffee table.
My third tree – I *might have a problem – is in my bedroom.
This tree is years old and is definitely crooked – so please pretend not to notice. He may graduate to front porch status next year as I think his days are numbered (he’s rusting as well).
For now he’s near the foot of my bed and he glows me to sleep almost every night.
I went with white ribbon and silver balls on this tree, because I wanted to showcase my treasured SWAROVSKI snowflake collection that I have been gifted for about 20+ years now.
They are tough to see in these photos, but when the room is dark, the lights shine off of each crystal snowflake and it triples the amount of twinkle. (happy sigh)
My favourite reindeer figurines adorn each nightstand and this “Clark Griswold” reminiscent pillow is back out on my flannel sheets.
Fairly low key – but the bedroom doesn’t see a lot of visitors, so it’s enough for me.
In case you are looking for a flannel duvet set and either can’t find one or can’t justify the INSANE pricing – I made this set about a week ago…
I bought two sheet sets from Costco at $49 CDN each (for king size) and then sewed the two flat sheets together to make a duvet cover. Now I have a reversible duvet (blue with snowflakes on the other side), 2 fitted sheets (white and blue) and 4 pillow cases for less than $100! FYI, the Costco Portugese flannel is fantastic – so soft, even after washing.
I do have a few decorations in my office and kitchen, but I can’t seem to get the mess under control enough to make them worth photographing.
I hope I didn’t bore you with my Christmas home tour 2021, but you know how it is – we all get so romantic come the Holidays that it’s tough to resist showing off a little.
Have a great one!
