I have the best dog ever.
Actually, I’ve always had the best dog(s) ever – every single one of them – I’m using “Best” as a class, not a singular achievement.
I mean, don’t we all have the best dog ever?
Time to celebrate it – and use up a bit of scrap wood in the process.
This DIY photo frame is so simple to make – you’ll want to decorate everywhere with them! All I did was cut a couple of scrap pieces of plywood down to 7 ½” by 9″ and a second one cut to a triangular shape to act as a stand, and then sanded both smooth.
I painted the front and sides of my DIY photo frame in an off-white and then printed off my “Best Dog Ever!” on my Silhouette machine.
I applied the adhesive vinyl to the front of my frame, offset to the side so I have room for a photo on the other, and then lightly rolled over it in the same off-white paint (this is to stop bleed-through under your stencil).
Once dry, I went over the stencil with two more coats in a dark navy blue – again, leftover paint I had in the garage.
Peel your stencil off and touch up where necessary.
Using Gorilla glue, attach your triangular stand to the back of your DIY photo frame and attach either a bulldog clip or clothes pins to the front.
Change up the text to “Best Day Ever!” or “Best Kid” (that might cause a ruckus if you have more than one – but hey, a little competition is healthy right? lol)
I printed a colour photo on my home computer and sized it to fit the frame.
Isn’t she gorgeous!
Okay, the kid’s pretty cute too.
Easy-peasy and if you have glue and clothes pins – completely free!
Supplies:
- scrap wood
- clothes pins / bulldog clip
- strong glue
- two colours of leftover paint
- sandpaper
- paintbrush
- adhesive vinyl, dollar store foam letters or hand-paint your text.
Take a long board of scrap wood and make a tall DIY photo frame with several pictures going down one strip.
A great way to use up scrap wood and to show off the “Best” fur-baby in your house.
Have a great one!
