Entice ghouls and goblins to your door with this simple and inexpensive Dollar Store Hallowe’en wreath!  Deco-mesh, a wreath form and some seasonal picks are all you need.

Good morning!  Happy October!

Truthfully, I only like October for the weather – I’m not really a Hallowe’en fan.

We have HUNDREDS of kids come by our house Trick-or-Treating – literally hundreds – and the constant doorbell ringing makes me crazy. I wish all the kids would just come to my house in one massive group (like a rock concert) and I’ll just throw candy in the air until it’s all gone.

Might be fun?  Certainly less torturous for me.

But alas – I mean fortunately – I have kids that participate in Hallowe’en, which means I’m a Mom that has to provide a Hallowe’en in return – so today I’m showing you how to make a simple Dollar Store Hallowe’en wreath that will get your house into Hallowe’en mode on a very small budget.

The tutorial for this simple wreath can be found on my Easy Easter Wreath Post – all you need is some deco-mesh from the dollar store, a contrasting ribbon, pipecleaners and a few picks to tuck in.

It’s a matter of cutting down the deco-mesh to roughly 8″ lengths, bundling three pieces together and then twisting a pipe cleaner to hold the little bundles together.

Attach the bundles to a wreath from and that’s it!

I purchased a few picks from the dollar store and this cute top hat – which was actually part of a hairband (that I cut off) – and tucked everything into the deco-mesh.

Because the hat was larger and and is filling the centre of my Hallowe’en wreath, I used a few dabs of hot glue to hold it securely in place.

If you can’t find Hallowe’en picks at your Dollar Store, don’t be afraid to use other seasonal items – everything is easily glued right to the deco-mesh.

I like a bit of an irregular shape on my wreaths – nothing perfectly circular or too compact, so I tucked a few glitter branches in here and there to add some interest.

The overall cost of this Dollar Store Hallowe’en wreath was about $20 (the hat was a bit more expensive, and I needed to buy a small wreath form) – but still an incredible deal given that similar ones will sell for upwards of $75.  Better still – it took about an hour of my time to make!

I’m kind of partial to purple – so maybe we’ll have orange this year and then I’ll whip up a purple and lime one for next Hallowe’en?

This can also be used as a centrepiece on a table somewhere – maybe with a black candle in the middle?  Check out how it looks as a flat decor piece in the Easter wreath post.

When wreath-making is this easy, this inexpensive and takes so little time, you (I) can easily justify making a few.
