The Dollar Store is one of my favourite places to buy materials to knock-off more expensive decor – case in point, painting these dollar store pumpkins is something that I do each year as my tastes and colour schemes change.
I mean really, does anyone really keep these dollar store pumpkins in the original colours?
I think they are actually manufactured to be hideous so that people WILL paint them.
Each of these little bags was $2 and contained 4-5 pumpkins, some pinecones and a few acorns. I wanted to fill a dish with these mini pumpkins, so I bought 4 bags for a whopping $8.
The process is simple (and not worth photographing) – just paint your minis with leftover paint or dollar store paint in whatever colours you choose to showcase this Fall.
I’m in a navy and gold mood this year, so that’s what I went with.
SOOOO much better!
I set my dollar store pumpkins (which now look like Pier 1 or Pottery Barn ones) to create a Fall coffee table vignette.
I tucked a few random leaves into the mix from a dollar store branch and bought myself a few sunflowers to finish my September look.
I love sunflowers – they just scream “paint a smiley face on me!” don’t they?
$10 and some leftover paint and I’m thrilled with the results.
It’s here; back-to-school, back-to-rules, cooler weather and changing leaves…
MY FAVOURITE SEASON!!
Have a great one!
