Upgrade your wheels with a simple, funny DIY car decal like this “Objects in mirror are losing” I made today.
I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately, but I’ve been full of piss and vinegar! Off-colour jokes, highly competitive games of Blink – The World’s Fastest Game! (affiliate link, but an AWESOME game!!), pinball, PacMan and an overall urge to laugh and cause trouble.
It’s wonderful!
I’ve been down for months and months now, so this new mojo is fantastic… for me… not sure how it’s working out for the people I’m irritating with it. lol
With that in mind, you can see how, when times are quiet and there’s no one to ‘play with’, I have to create things that are funny and competitive; just to maintain my vibe.
I’d seen a car decal like this somewhere on Pinterest and couldn’t resist making a version for myself.
The driver-side mirror on my Jeeper didn’t have any writing on it (only the passenger side does), so I measured the mirror and then used my Silhouette Cameo to create a cut file that would fit within that space.
The font is Lucida Sans and is 36 point for my mirror – which made my car decal about 5 ½” wide by 1 ½” tall.
I cut my mirror decal out of black matte adhesive vinyl.
Before applying it, I washed my side mirror with rubbing alcohol to make sure it was thoroughly clean and so the car decal would stick better.
Then it was just a matter of transferring the decal onto the glass and pressing tightly into place.
I used regular adhesive vinyl – nothing weather-graded – so I’m not sure how long this mirror decal will last. I contemplated painting over it with a clear nail polish, but I’m putting it off for now… not sure if that would make things better or worse?
Come on! That’s awesome right?
My competitive nature will be appeased every time I go for a drive!
I couldn’t resist sharing a few other (funny) ones I found online – click any image to be taken to the vendor website:
Easy to make your own car decals (if you have adhesive vinyl and a cutting machine) – but even easier to buy from any of the above Etsy/Ebay sellers as well.
Going for a drive – looking for trouble. (wink)
Have a great one!
