I did a feature home office makeover for the One Room Challenge last Fall, but in truth, the room wasn’t completely finished at the end of the 6 week challenge period. My budget didn’t allow for the new carpeting, task lighting and blinds that would complete the room.
In case you didn’t see my home office makeover, this is the before (when it was Hubby’s space):
Terrible, unusable, an eyesore and a constant source of stress for me because it is also the first room you see as you come in the door.
My takeover/makeover included ripping out the window seat, moving all the furniture, bringing some upcycled furniture in and some decorating….
but it was still a bit scruffy.
Those dark blinds were heavy and eye-catching (in a bad way) and the carpet was 13 years old and showing stains, wear and tear and the underpad was quite flat.
I had a birthday in February and Hubby bought me this gorgeous lamp for task lighting.
Then last month I finally had new carpeting and underpad installed!
It’s an off-white with a soft trellis pattern in it. I was a bit nervous about off-white in a house with 3 pets, 2 kids and a husband that clearly don’t care that this is “Mommy’s space”, but so far it’s remained off-white (knock on wood). I didn’t realize just how much of a difference a good underpad makes, nor how useless the old one was.
But I digress. This carpet is so soft and squishy underfoot!
Finally, last week, my sugar-pie-honey-bunch sweet friend Katherine arrived with my new blinds!
Aren’t they beautiful?!
I can’t take credit, Katherine actually chose the pattern, but she let me narrow it down (I really don’t have any sense of style or decor).
Down came the heavy brown and up went these soft, feminine and luxurious roman’s.
I’ll probably leave them open 98% of the time, but there is the option to hibernate and watch Netflix on the computer.
The metal star is from Christmas, but I like it so I left it up. lol
Those were the final details left undone in my home office makeover and now it is absolute perfection!

Reading nook:
All in one little 10′ x 10′ space.
I can light my candles, hoard my jellybeans, craft away, nestle in with a book, binge-watch Netflix oh, and work of course.
