It’s week 3 of the One Room Challenge – also known as ORC – and there’s a chance I’ve bit off more than I can chew.

One Room Challenge - Fall 2017, ORC week 2, One room challenge week 2

Not only did I sign up to take part in the ORC hosted by Calling It Home, but I decided yesterday that I was going to also take up the IG Builder’s Challenge hosted by Desert Woodworks and have already committed to the Half-Hour Holiday Challenge hosted by Saws on Skates.

All of these are totally do-able and I’m SO excited to try – but the deadlines are almost simultaneous which means I’m feeling a tad overwhelmed.  ORC final room reveals must be posted November 3rd, Instagram Builder’s Challenge entries have to be submitted by November 1st and the HHHoliday by November 13th.

I also had some disappointing news earlier this week; a company I had partnered with for the carpeting in my ORC Home Office just let me know that they will no longer be participating.  (sniff, sniff) and since new carpeting is out of budget at the moment, my home office will be slightly less perfect than I’d imagined.

That’s not to say it won’t be exponentially better than the before:

Week 3 was all about paint – the walls got two coats of Summer Shower by Benjamin Moore and all the trim work was cleaned up with a coat of white.

Notice anything else?

Yup, I ripped out the built-in bookshelf and window seat that Hubby built years ago.  As much as I love the idea of having a window seat in my home office, practicality won out – this 10’x10′ space has to house both a craft area, a working area and a reading chair – so it’s gonna be tight.

The cabinets I refinished the other week are a perfect fit – thank goodness – and I did sneak out and splurge on the pretty reading chair and tiny side table from my mood board.

Since the carpeting is a no-go, my to-do list is down to:

Feeling confident that I’ll be finished my new home office in time for the deadline (I hope that didn’t just jinx me).

You should see what the other ORC Challenge participants are up to!  There are master bedrooms, powder rooms, guest rooms, hallways, garages, basements…  absolutely no shortage of inspiration for your own one room challenge.
