Have you seen this gorgeous DIY Christmas tree shelf by Jaime at That’s My Letter?
I’d saved the pin from last year with the plans of building my own this year – and I finally did!
I cheated a bit by using scrap wood to build mine – which totally works if you plan on painting it instead of staining.
As it was I used a bit of pine, a lot of plywood and even a piece of cedar I believe – but nothing was purchased – these were all scrap bits!
Okay, I purchased the hooks, but even the paint was leftover, so the grand total for this project came in at about $4!
My DIY Christmas tree shelf looks so cute all dolled up with little gifts and Christmas items!
Each shelf is about 6″ high, so you can’t fit a lot – but the overall impact of the piece is fantastic. I have received so many compliments when it welcomes people as they come in the door.

It takes about an hour to build (including the first layer of paint) and it would make a GREAT gift idea for just about anyone on your list. Make one for Grandma in the nursing home, you could fit one in a dorm room on campus, friends, neighbours – even kids can put one in their room to have a bit of Christmas inspiration.
Oooooh, what about stocking it with guest toiletries and hanging it in your bathroom over the Holidays? Cute and functional!
Thank you Jaime for being so brilliant (and for sharing that brilliance with everyone).
