I don’t show a lot of fashion or “girly” things on this blog – not because I don’t like them; my Pinterest boards are full of cute outfits that I wish I wore, but more because this is a DIY and family blog and after doing DIY and taking care of my family there isn’t a lot of time or energy left for hair and makeup.
BUT – I did DIY the cutest purse EVER!
If you have drills in your DIY arsenal (sort of a basic for any build) then you probably received a drill bag inside the tool box – it looks something like this:
I don’t know about you, but I never use these bags. My tools are housed in my workshop and I never have need to bag them up and carry them around.
This bag is awfully cute though. Particularly if you’re a DIY Diva like me… it just needs longer straps so that one could swing it over their shoulder.
The great news is that you can buy these pre-made tote bag handles!
These, with some extra-strong thread and some leather needles and you can attach the handles to any bag you want. Some tote straps even come with the holes pre-pierced so all you have to do is a little stitch here and another there.
I cut off the excess nylon handles and done!
I LOVE this DIY purse!
The handles are long enough to sling over your shoulder, the bag is deep enough to hold your stuff but shallow enough that you don’t have to dig in up to your elbow to find your keys AND the drill bag is meant to carry a power tool – so it’s strong.
I’m no Kylie Jenner, and I don’t expect everyone to follow my uber-cool trend – just you cool DIY Diva’s out there.
Yup, totally wore it out to lunch with a friend.
I asked my girls if they thought anyone would think their Mommy is weird and they said “who cares?!” I take that as a positive endorsement of both my weirdness and my cool new DIY purse.
And hey, DeWalt can now claim to offer a ‘free purse with purchase’.
Quick, go scour your tool area and see if there aren’t a few tool bags just sitting there collecting dust!
