Labour Day weekend marks the beginning of Fall over here (over here being my house), and with it comes the light smattering of Fall decor here and there throughout the house.
Yesterday’s project was setting up a “Fall front porch” to welcome both guests and the season.
Plants make anyplace warmer don’t you think? While my mums aren’t quite ready to bloom just yet, my ornamental cabbage brings in a bit of colour with its purple centre.
My splash of colour (at least until the mums bloom) is my fox pillow – I came across this artist on Society 6 and had to have this watercolour fox.
I brought out my sandwich board from last Christmas and attempted another piece of chalk art based on this free printable from The Diary of Dave’s Wife. To find out how to create your own chalkboard art, check out my tutorial here.
I tucked a small mum inside my chicken planter and now it looks as though she’s sporting a giant afro – too cute.
Another great find from last year’s Fall front porch was this pumpkin wreath that I scored at HomeSense. While I’m not entirely ready to orange-out my house just yet, these small pumpkins in a nice neutral colour are perfect for September.
What Fall front porch would be complete without all of the bounties of harvest time? I have cabbage and mums, pumpkins and even chicken – but it just wouldn’t be complete without my scrap wood apple from this post.
The warmth of the wood and the lushness of the greenery are a perfect tribute to September.
What do you think? Care to join me for a cup of pumpkin spice something-or-another?
Have a great one!
Hey Shelley! Found your wooden lanterns on Pinterest (making them this week!) and have loved snooping around your blog and pinning More things. Thank you for such great ideas! Just wondering, in this post, you mention the scrap wood apple and I think there may have been a link to it once upon a time? Any chance you can hook me up with the link again? Please? :) Thanks so much for any help.
