This post is a bit of a cheater because I actually did the work over a month ago – but since it is all part of my One Room Challenge makeover, I’m going to share it again today as my efforts for Week 2
Recap:
Week 1 – the before of our home office
My home office mood board:
If you remember, I said that my new home office needed to function as both a workspace AND as a craft room – which means it needs a fair amount of storage.
I was previously using an Ikea Kallax unit in my basement craft room, but with the smaller footprint of this office (10’x10′) and less wall space – with a giant window in the room – the Kallax would be too big and bulky.
Instead I came across these storage cabinets on a MaxSold auction.
I’d done some searching online and nowhere could I find bookshelves, with drawers, for the $150 I paid for these two.
Look at all of that storage!
I decided to remove the upper cabinet doors and use these as bookshelves to keep the room feeling open and airy. The bottom drawers will be perfect for hiding away craft and/or office supplies to keep everything I need close-at-hand.
Some sanding, priming, painting and new hardware and check out my cabinets now:
Yes, that is a sneak-peek at the new wall colour – but I’ll save that for next week’s ORC reveal.
$150 for the cabinets and $30 for the paint (hardware was provided by Liberty Hardware) – still considerably less than anything I’d found online.

Any room, 6 weeks to get ‘er done – loving the ORC!
Have a great one!
