Portable Kitchen Island

Build your own portable kitchen island with these easy building plans (except the drawer, the drawer sucked, but the rest was easy lol). Portable prep station

I saw on of these portable kitchen islands / portable prep station at HomeSense awhile back and I was determined to see if I could make one myself.

Turns out you can, and a much better version as well, with a 3 ½” endgrain butcher block top no less!

DIY Shower Stool

If you’re tired of doing shower contortionism just to shave your legs, then this little DIY shower stool is the perfect option for you.  At roughly $8 and less than 2 hours of your time, you can whip one out and keep your balance while keeping your legs hair-free!

I’m going to premise this post with a warning that this is NOT actually a sitting stool.  This is a small stool for shaving your legs in the shower and is more […]

What clamps do you need for woodworking?

As a DIYer with no formal training in wood-working, my clamp game was sketchy at best.  To resolve this – and to help you  – I’ve done the research and talked to the professionals to help you with a beginner’s kit that will see you through most small-build projects.

What are clamps for?

Despite common misconceptions, putting together furniture isn’t about a hammer and nails.  Most pieces you’ll build – from nightstands to coffee tables – will be held together with a […]

#OrganizeThis – Small parts bins

Get your workshop organized without breaking the bank by making your own small parts bins to house screws, nails, bolts, and hardware – better still, attach them with a french cleat system for easy removal and return.

Good morning everyone!

It’s a GREAT morning – mainly because I’m part of a group challenge today called #OrganizeThis.  Seventeen of the best DIY Bloggers in the business were put to the challenge to organize an area of their home that has become out of […]

I FINALLY have a build to share with you today!

I started these Do It Yourself (DIY) nightstands at the end of January, but with recent events, a trip to Florida and two girls with extensive dental work, they took a back-burner to more pressing items.

I got them done though!  Final coat of paint […]

Behind-the-door-Storage

One set of building plans to create behind-the-door storage for anywhere in your home. I created extra bathroom storage for my tweens and a gift wrap storage solution for my office. Use that wasted space with this simple build.

Do you have storage and organization issues?

Like more stuff than space?

I think everyone (except maybe Mari Kondo) does. We all want to be tidy and organized, but “stuff” takes over and clutter everything up. If you are struggling to […]

Tablet charging station

Create calm out of entryway chaos by making your own iPad/iPhone charging station and mail sorter – perfect for corralling cords, electronics, keys and sunglasses.

A few years ago I posted about a simple solution for storing and charging your iPad, iPod, iPhone, idontcare electronics. It was a wood magazine rack that I tipped on it’s back and then drilled holes through the bottom for cords to feed through.

It was great!

A bit big and bulky, and it was […]
