So getting the opportunity to try the WORX shear & shrub trimmer was a no-brainer!
The trimmer body is only 2lbs, so very easy to carry and manipulate. It comes with both a 4″ grass shear blade:
AND an 8″ shrub trimmer blade that are easily swapped out without any tools needed.
The shear and shrub trimmer isn’t for large hedge trimming jobs – WORX has several other options for heavy-duty work – this is a small handheld trimmer that does fine trimming and grooming to keep your ornamental hedges looking crisp.
Remember my privacy planters from years ago? I planted cedars in each to offer a bit more privacy around the hot tub and they have done very well. But these crazy hair-do’s just aren’t for me.
I like things relatively kempt and I don’t want the branches to grow outwards because then the bushes will split with heavy snow come winter. The WORX shear & shrub trimmer is perfect for this scenario.
It’s small enough that I can get right up to the privacy lattice at the back (which my large hedge trimmer bangs against and damages).
I can fit between the privacy planters to split the hedges from each other, and the 4″ grass shear is perfect for the grass between the planters that my weed trimmer can’t reach.

I tackled my peonies and boxwoods with the WORX shear & shrub trimmer as well, but they are more gangly hedges, so the before and after isn’t as dramatic.

Changing out the blades is a matter of pressing a button on the bottom of the handle, the casing will open and you just lift one blade out and place the other in!
